Director, Annual and Leadership Gifts University of Maryland Global Campus
Many organizations face the challenge of engaging supporters who come from diverse backgrounds, generations, and lived experiences. Traditional outreach strategies often assume a single donor journey, which can overlook the realities of the communities we serve. This session will explore how thoughtful segmentation and a personalized-yet-scalable engagement strategy can build stronger, more authentic connections with supporters.
Using the case of University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), presenters will share how their advancement team reimagined supporter engagement to reflect the wide range of experiences among their students, alumni, and broader community. By embracing an approach centered on personalization at scale, UMGC has been able to deepen relationships, build trust, and increase philanthropic outcomes.
Attendees will gain practical insights into how segmentation, messaging, and technology can work together to meet people where they are. The strategies shared will be applicable across nonprofit sectors, from education and healthcare to advocacy and human services.
