Before joining PPFA, Leora Hanser served as NPR’s Chief Development Officer and President of the NPR Foundation. Under her leadership, she achieved impactful growth for NPR by implementing a transformational change strategy. In addition to achieving record-breaking revenue results, she negotiated an historic shift in the relationship between NPR and local Member stations, creating a new revenue stream. She has extensive experience as a fundraising leader for major nonprofit, media, and international development organizations, and has a proven record of building relationships across federated organizations. Leora has also served as Chief Development Officer at the US Soccer Foundation, and prior to that, as Senior Vice President, Partnerships at the National Geographic Society where she led and managed all revenue generation and fundraising activities for the Society, quickly growing contributed revenue and securing substantial corporate support. Earlier in her career, Hanser served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor's Office of Strategic Partnerships, and as Director of Campaigns and Advocacy at Save the Children UK, where she ensured strategic alignment as they transitioned to a newly established federated model. Throughout her career, Leora has been committed to public service; motivated by creating meaningful impact for the organizations she has served, and also the constituencies they support. She joined NPR when independent, fact-based journalism was under threat, and is ready to help lead PPFA at this pivotal time in our organization’s history.
