Executive Director
Charlottesville Business Innovation Council
Tracey Greene is a longtime nonprofit executive, ecosystem builder, and connector whose career has been dedicated to strengthening innovation-driven economies through community-based leadership. She serves as Executive Director of the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) and is a co-founder of the Charlottesville Angel Network—two cornerstone nonprofit organizations that have helped shape Central Virginia’s startup, technology, and investment landscape for more than two decades.
Before and alongside her nonprofit leadership, Tracey gained firsthand operating experience in the private sector, including work with a startup pharmaceutical company, where she was exposed to the realities of building and scaling a science-driven venture. That experience informs her deep understanding of the challenges founders face—particularly around capital access, regulatory complexity, positioning, and growth.
Over her career, Tracey has worked directly and indirectly with a wide range of regional nonprofits, public-private partnerships, investors, universities, and civic leaders to build pathways that connect entrepreneurs to capital, expertise, and growth resources. Her impact is rooted in hands-on execution: launching and scaling programs, convening cross-sector collaborators, securing funding, and creating durable infrastructure that supports founders from idea through scale.
Known for her ability to turn complex ecosystems into coordinated action, Tracey aligns mission, messaging, and momentum across organizations to produce measurable, lasting outcomes. As a speaker, she draws on decades of real-world nonprofit and startup-adjacent experience to share practical insights on ecosystem building, accessing capital, startup scalability, and the strategic role branding and storytelling play in advancing mission-driven impact.
